Course description

This classroom-based course uses hands-on exercises with AXIS Site Designer to teach you how to design a network video surveillance system that takes into consideration surveillance goals, camera placement, light levels, and video analytics apps. You will get to know the tools Axis offers to facilitate the design process, learn how to use VAPIX commands for communication with and between Axis products, and understand how to handle physical sabotage and cyber threats. Examples of sites covered include a convenience store, a school, and a car dealership.

Course outline

1. Designing a network video surveillance system Understand the difference between detection, recognition and identification, how resolution affects images, and some dos and don’ts of camera placement. 

2. Axis tools Learn about tools Axis offers, and when and how to use them. 

3. VAPIX Find out what VAPIX is and how to use it for communication with and between Axis products. 

4. Security Explore various aspects of security, including physical sabotage, tampering, and cybersecurity.
