The construction of the highest-tech hospital in Latin America took two years, with a total constructed area of 106,000m2, and has 5 towers of 9 floors each; this modern medical center will receive more than half a million people in eastern Antioquia and opened its doors in 2011, at a cost of about 200 billion pesos. Thanks to the intention and design of the San Vicente de Paul Hospital, the equipment used is at the forefront of worldwide technology, in search of excellent administration, savings, safety and control of its facilities, making it the most technologically advanced hospital in Latin America.


After evaluating the Axis video solutions, 217 Axis IP cameras were implemented. The Axis cameras used for this project have a fixed network for day and night vision with superior video quality, featuring focus assistant, remote back focus and pixel counter that simplify installation. AXIS P1343 Network Camera is one of the video surveillance cameras that will provide visitors the fullest security of the modern hospital.


The building has a supervision and control system of basic services such as lighting, electrical, hydraulic, and electromechanical, through a central controller and a large number of Honeywell Alerton field controllers. With Axis video surveillance devices, better security and control is possible. Integration with third parties was achieved with various drivers: Modbus, BACnet, Lonworks and Opc.
