This course gives you a solid introduction to network video surveillance. It is based on a blended learning concept, where the theory is presented in a range of eLearning modules (for self-paced studies), while the hands-on exercises take place in a classroom. In the exercises you will learn how to connect and configure Axis products.

eLearning modules:
a. Course information - Explains the setup of the course, with all modules ending with a quiz.
b. Network video surveillance systems - System components: cameras, encoders, switches, routers, Power over Ethernet.
c. Camera optics - What light is and how a camera sees.
d. Image usability - How to achieve usable images: camera placement, resolution, pixel density etc.
e. Bandwidth - Factors that affect bandwidth consumption, and actions for lowering it.
f. Edge storage, input/output ports (I/O), analytics and thermal cameras - SD cards and failover recording, typical input and output devices, how analytics can be used to pinpoint specific events taking place, thermal camera technology.
g. Cybersecurity - The most common types of attacks and how to mitigate them.
h. Maintenance and support - Basic troubleshooting, and how to reach Axis technical support.
i. Master quiz - The master quiz is a compilation of the module quizzes, including additional questions.

b. Axis naming convention - The information contained in the name of an Axis product.
3. Classroom module:
The classroom day is focused on hands-on exercises, putting the online theory into practice.
