Nestlé's recipe for safety, security, and efficiency
Nestlé, one of the world’s largest food manufacturers, uses Axis products and solutions to enhance security and boost efficiency across 22 of its industrial production sites.

  Protecting and securing production sites
For over 150 years, Nestlé has applied its expertise to food, setting the ambitious goal of improving quality of life and contributing to a healthier future. To safeguard its production facilities, Nestlé uses advanced perimeter protection solutions from Axis. More than 600 Axis cameras have been installed across Nestlé’s 22 sites in France.
One key installation is the integration of Axis radar to enable precise motion detection – even in poor visibility conditions. This allows potential intruders to be tracked with great precision. The solution also reduces false alarms and ensures rapid responses in the event of an incident.
But Nestlé’s journey towards securing production sites doesn’t stop here. They are continuously working to improve the protection of their sites by integrating the latest innovations in video protection and detection. A new project is underway to integrate Axis radars on all site fences to further guard against intrusions. AES DANA, a trusted installation partner, plays a key role in helping Nestlé stay at the cutting edge of safety and security on its industrial sites.
The excellent relationship with Axis Communications, the image quality, the reliability of the solutions and the support offered were decisive factors in choosing their solutions. The durability of the products, some of which have a lifespan of over 10 years, is also a significant advantage.
Smart network cameras equal smooth industrial processes
Beyond traditional safety and security, Nestlé is unlocking new value from video technology by integrating it into its industrial processes to enhance operational efficiency. One example is the monitoring of coffee jar filling operations, where multiple robots are supervised using compact, high-performance cameras from the AXIS F Modular Camera Series. Thanks to their modular design, these cameras are easily integrated into the challenging conditions of industrial production environments.
In the event of an incident on the production line, recorded footage plays a vital role in diagnosing the cause and optimizing machine settings – ultimately supporting continuous improvement and operational efficiency.

Explosion-protected Axis cameras in Nestlé’s ATEX zones
Axis cameras also play a vital role in supporting Nestlé’s highly sensitive production areas, such as powdered milk processing zones classified as ATEX (explosive atmosphere) environments. In these potentially explosive zones, Nestlé relies on robust, explosion-protected PTZ (pan/tilt/zoom) cameras certified for Zone/Division 1. Engineered for extreme conditions and hazardous areas, these cameras provide 360° coverage and powerful zoom capabilities, allowing precise, real-time monitoring of critical equipment both before startup and during active production. This ensures the safety of personnel on site while helping maintain industrial compliance.
The cost of the camera is not the primary factor of choice. We are also highly committed to CSR. We have an Ecovadis Gold rating, which testifies to our dedication to developing sustainable and ethical business practices. This commitment is reflected in our choice of partners. By collaborating with Axis, which is also Ecovadis-certified and shares our values, we ensure that our operations not only meet quality and safety standards, but also limit the impact on our environment and our partners.
Cybersecurity as criteria of choice
Like many forward-thinking organizations, Nestlé places cybersecurity at the forefront of its priorities. All installations are in full compliance with IEC62443, an international standard that defines cybersecurity requirements for industrial automation and control systems. This ensures robust protection against potential cyber threats, safeguarding both critical infrastructure and sensitive data.
By adhering to these recognized standards, Nestlé reinforces the integrity and continuity of its operations. This approach aligns closely with Axis own commitment to cybersecurity and especially when it comes to European Union directives NIS 2 and CER compliance. It is reflected for example by long-term firmware upgrades and support, fleet management tools, HTTPS, transparent CVE handling, and advanced technologies such as Edge Vault for secure key storage.
Together, these measures form a resilient foundation for secure, future-ready video surveillance solutions.
