Focusing on a smarter, safer, more sustainable world
Sustainability is a natural part of our operations. It’s the basis of everything we do, and what drives us to develop innovative, long-term and reliable products and solutions for a smarter, safer world.
Sustainability is an important and natural part of our operations, which us why we contribute to the UN Agenda 2030 and its 17 Global Sustainable Development Goals. The goals encourage businesses like ours to address the challenges we face. These include poverty, inequality, climate, environmental degradation, prosperity, peace and justice.
Find out more about how Axis works to include these goals in our everyday activities.
Four sustainability focus areas that are the cornerstones of our business
Ethical, responsible, inclusive, and reliable. Our relationships with our partners and co-workers.
Respecting decency, being transparent and thinking long-term while having zero tolerance for corruption.
Innovations based on the highest standards of responsibility that follow all international standards.
Protect our planet
We have one world. We strive to protect it by minimizing environmental impact in everything we do.
Inspiring change in our company and society
Our way to be a reliable partner and driving force for sustainable innovation is through our values. Theyhelp foster openness, honesty and transparency. Together with our code of conduct and anti-corruption policy, our values ensure the well-being and development of our company and everyone associated with it.
It’s about people – all people we work with
Social responsibility is key to our success. Which is why we focus on people throughout the value chain, conducting supplier audits to protect human rights and secure safe and healthy working environments. All our suppliers comply with our supplier code of conduct based on the UN global compact.
Always open, act as one, think big. Our core values shine through in how we take pride in our innovative, spirited company culture. We work actively with diversity and inclusion, work-life balance and conscious recruitment to give our co-workers a great place to grow.
We constantly strive to prevent and counteract corruption, both in our organization, and in our dealings with our partners and suppliers. All our co-workers undergo anti-corruption training, and suppliers should comply with our code of conduct.
We want to make a smarter, safer world by doing business the right way. We share knowledge about our products, cybersecurity and more through the Axis academy, on blogs and our website. Our aim is to stable, achieve long-term growth through transparency and sharing best practices with our partners.
Our innovation and technological drive brings lots of benefits and opportunities for society. But never at the cost of compromising our ethical principles. We are transparent and always show how we want our innovations to be used, and expect our partners to do the same. All our products and solutions are based on international standards. Our Ethics Council evaluates all ethical considerations regarding products and the way they are used to protect human rights and peoples’ right to privacy.
Mitigating risks from cybersecurity
Effective cybersecurity involves assessing risks and taking the appropriate steps. Our products have built-in cybersecurity features to decrease the risk of compromise. We continually inform and train our co-workers to ensure the highest level of IT security throughout the value chain.
Our solutions enable surveillance and remote monitoring while addressing restrictions on collecting personal data. Masking technologies make it easy to hide a selected area by applying an opaque mask or showing selected areas in very low resolution. Thermal cameras detect incidents while ensuring anonymity.
Green is good. Which is why we do our utmost to minimize the environmental impact of our operations to help beat climate change, reduce our carbon footprint and responsibly use natural resources. And that work goes through everything we do. From product manufacturing and lifecycle, energy consumption, repair and replace, transport and logistics, to setting high demands on all our suppliers and partners.
Every year we drive projects to see how we can best negate and even reverse the impact of our processes on climate change and offer services to cities that help them work in a smarter, greener way.
The Sustainability Report highlights our efforts towards sustainable ways of working. It is written according to the GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) reporting principles and provides a detailed account of the economic, environmental, and social impact Axis had during the period.
Putting more energy into less
80% of environmental impact from our cameras is from energy consumption. Which is why we now run three to five new energy efficiency projects annually. One recent result was the launch of our latest system-on-chip, ARTPEC-8. By using a more power efficient technology, it can deliver a 1080p30 stream using 40 percent less energy than its predecessor under the same conditions.
Guided by the UN Global Compact, we initiated a human rights due diligence project in 2021 to bridge gaps compared to global standards, and to facilitate identification of actual and potential impacts on human rights across our activities and business relationships.
In April 2021, Axis was approved as a Common Vulnerability and Exposures (CVE) Numbering Authority (CNA) for our products. Partnering with the well-established CVE-program enable us to assign CVE identifiers to vulnerabilities within our own products and firmware, and notify customers of a vulnerability via their device or network scanning tool.
Axis has been awarded a Silver Sustainability ratingfrom Ecovadis, who independently assess more than 85,000 companies for their practices related to CSR. Areas evaluated were environment, human and labor rights, ethics and sustainable procurement.
