Sports club in Mexico manages to reduce anti-theft by up to 80%; resulting in a decrease in generating repercussions from staff turnover to and the added benefit of providing live online match broadcasting
Mission
Across Mexico, the number of sports enthusiasts is increasing as are the number of sports venues. Those who live in the Campeche region are turning to the Coltan Pádel sports club for athletic activities and competition. As the club expanded, so too did their security challenges affecting facilities, assets, staff and visitors. Incidents of vandalism, theft, and even parking lot confrontations were occurring. Especially worrying was the theft of merchandise and services by staff members.
Solution
A project was developed in collaboration with MMC, Axis' business partner. Based on the assessed needs, the recommendation was to install 14 network cameras managed by Axis software. For the most important areas, such as perimeters, parking lots and checkout locations, vandal-proof cameras with high dynamic range were installed, generating high quality images, even in low light conditions.
Result
One of the main achievements of combining cameras with Axis software was the reduction of employee theft, by up to 80%. This not only reduced losses but also the rate of staff turnover. The video surveillance system made it possible to reduce response times from security personnel and to identify those responsible for the robberies. Additionally, the scope of use for some of the cameras was extended beyond security to support live transmissions of athletic events.
Being able to broadcast live matches with excellent quality has been an extra result that brought great benefits in the service to users.
Approaching the experts
In the absence of a complete security system, the sports center was contending with several blind spots in the facilities that evolved into risk areas for visitors. To address the situation, the sports club decided to implement a solution that would guarantee a high level of security in all areas of the complex, from the courts, corridors, and offices to parking lots and sales areas.
The security staff worked with Axis and MMC to identify areas of opportunity, as well as to design a video surveillance solution, adapted to the infrastructure conditions, capable of reducing incidents quickly, efficiently, and easily.
Exceeding expectations
In response to the needs presented by the Deportivo Coltan Padel, Axis suggested the development of a network video solution to include vandal-proof cameras that feature high dynamic range and high quality images, even in low light conditions.

Their help and support in implementing a video solution that would guarantee the security of the sports complex was the key to achieving our expectations beyond the objectives," explained Edgar Arceo Baeza, General Director of Deportivo Coltan Pádel.
“The project improved the use of the facilities, reduced response times by security personnel, and secured perimeters and corridors 24 hours a day. It also reduced the risk of criminal acts, ensured the safety of visitors, and improved the image of the sports facility, which in turn, helped to restore the confidence of visitors.”
Scalability was another benefit of the network technologies according to Arceo Baeza. “One of the main added values of integrating this solution was that it made it possible for us to provide high quality, live transmissions of the different tournaments, activities and exhibition games regardless of the time of day.”
