AXIS License Plate Verifier delivers reliable, edge-based license plate recognition for free-flow and high-speed traffic (depending on device), as well as parking solutions, vehicle search, and vehicle access control. In addition to license plates, the analytics support vehicle type classification (such as bus or truck), along with vehicle color, make, and model, enabling efficient vehicle identification and search across a wide range of operational and investigative use cases.

Running directly on the camera, AXIS License Plate Verifier performs license plate recognition and data processing at the edge. This reduces latency, bandwidth usage and removes the need for dedicated servers, simplifying system design and lowering total cost of ownership. The analytics feature an intuitive interface with event logs and license plate thumbnail images, making administration, search, and follow-up easy. For fast and optimized deployment, purpose-tuned license plate recognition kits such as AXIS P1465-LE-3 and AXIS Q1800-LE are available.

Example of a basic vehicle access workflow:
1. The camera detects and reads the license plate.
2. The system checks whether the license plate is on the allow list.
3. Access rules are verified (for example, permitted access to the West parking lot between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM).
4. The barrier opens to grant access.
The event is logged in the door controller and/or system.
