A midspan enables an existing network to support PoE. The midspan, which adds power to an Ethernet cable, is placed between a network switch and powered devices.
Midspans come in single and multi-port versions and are unmanaged. For managed multi-port PoE solutions please check the Axis network switches, specifically designed for security and surveillance use.
