Two applications install directly on the camera and run on its own processor: Virtual Loop Detection for vehicle presence or Traffic Edge Analytics for full traffic analysis, with no computer or processing unit at the intersection.
Setup happens over the camera view itself: an operator draws the regions that matter, a lane, an approach, with no external calibration and no reference infrastructure on the road. The camera then delivers real-time vehicle presence per region to the traffic controller, over Atman's native protocol or through an interface board for other manufacturers, taking the place of a buried inductive loop.
In parallel, it measures counts and classification by vehicle type, speed, occupancy, and headway, and derives signal performance measures (ATSPM) for the approach it watches, arrivals on green, queue length and stops in red, control delay, volume-to-capacity ratio, and level of service. It also performs automatic incident detection (AID) for wrong-way driving, stopped vehicles, congestion, and obstacles in the roadway, recording images and video on the camera itself, while measured data reaches Attlas for dashboards, reports, and studies.
