Dubai Autism Center: Forging a responsible and long-term social partnership

Axis supports the special needs school with their latest audio solutions

“Dubai Autism Center is built on social support from the government, corporates and individuals. With our new facility, we’ll be able to provide students and teachers an advanced platform with every amenity we desired. Axis’ support in handling our audio needs has been a generous contribution in helping us move closer towards achieving our goal of a world class special needs school. We are sure this is a long term relationship and we look forward to working with them in the coming year.” Zehra Khan, Business & Communication, Dubai Autism Center.

Founded in 2001 and under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Dubai Autism Center (DAC) is a non-profit organization based in Dubai (UAE) dedicated to improving the quality of life for children with autism and their families. Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a complex and lifelong neurological developmental disorder and usually affects the person’s verbal and non-verbal communications as well as imaginative play and social skills. ASD transcends social, cultural and geographic boundaries and according to recent studies, one out of every 68 children is affected by ASD. DAC currently has 60 students (from 19 nationalities), 83 staff, 42 special educators, 12 OT therapists, 9 speech therapists, 5 community services, 34 classrooms, 2 training rooms and 3 speech labs. DAC’s mission is to successfully integrate children with Autism into the community through their holistic approach to intervention and therapies, together with their focused efforts to create social awareness about autism.

Dubai Autism Center moved to a new four story facility and were on the lookout for an audio solution for general announcements, paging and for emergency drills. The new building provides DAC with advanced amenities including speech therapy rooms, training center, outdoor & indoor play areas, swimming pool, gym, teacher lounge and an admin office space. They needed a system which they could operate as a single and segmented unit. They would also be using it for playing music in the guest lobby, or making announcements directed at staff moving around in the building.

Axis recommended the newly launched AXIS C2005 Network Ceiling Speaker for indoor and AXIS C3003-E Horn Speaker for outdoor requirements. Axis speakers make audio smart and easy, and open a wealth of new possibilities. The speakers are perfect for background music and for live and scheduled announcements, among their many features. Axis partnered with MVP Tech for this project to handle the integration.
