Why is it not possible to downgrade the firmware on my new AXIS P13 series camera?

AXIS has introduced a new hardware revision of the AXIS P13 series in June 2022. The cameras with the new hardware have a new hardware ID ("HWID") . Units with a new HWID cannot be downgraded to firmware that is older than release 10.12.X on active track. The reason is that older firmware does not support the new hardware revision. However,  the upcoming LTS releases will add support for the new hardware as well.

Products with the old hardware, see old HWID, will still be able to downgrade to earlier releases than 10.12.X firmware.

Overview of new and old HWID per camera model:

Product  Old HWID   New HWID
AXIS P1375   795   98D.1
AXIS P1377   7C2.1   98D.2
AXIS P1378   7C2.2   98D.3
AXIS P1375-E   796   98E.1
AXIS P1377-LE   7C3.1   98E.2
AXIS P1378-LE   7C3.2   98E.3

You can check the hardware ID of your camera in it's web interface under
System > Plain config > Properties - System section - Hardware ID.
