A: All components such as SDK, compilers, sample code, copy protection tool, etc. are available on Axis Partner Pages. So start with signing up for the Axis ADP (Application Development Partner) Program. All companies and organizations are welcome to the ADP Program.
Q: What is included in ACAP SDK?
A: The following components are included:
- A compiler system
- APIs to access on-board device functionality
- Example code

Q: What kind of programming are we talking about?
A: The applications should be developed in C or C++. C is recommended.
Q: What development environment is supported?
A: The ACAP SDK requires GNU/Linux operating system.
Q: Is it possible to use other programming languages than C and C++?
A: No, the libraries necessary to integrate with the open platform are available for C and C++.
Q: Can Cygwin be used as the development environment?
A: No, the ACAP SDK requires a complete GNU/Linux installation to work.
Q: Is it possible to make modifications to an uncompressed image and then feed it back to the on-board encoder?
A: No, it is not possible to feed an image back from the application to the encoder of the chip.
Q: Can Axis support ADPs in developing ACAP applications?
A: No, Axis only supports the SDK and other tools included in the concept.
Q: What is the copy protection service?
A: This is a service/tool, free of charge for Axis ADP Partners, to ensure that an application cannot be copied and run in more video products than the license is valid for.
Q: Where do I get support if I have problems with the applications that I have downloaded into my Axis products?
A: The ACAP application vendor (the company that has provided the application) is responsible for all support related to the application.
