Axis prepares for World Expo 2020

Peter Lindström and Ettienne van der Watt

Axis is participating with the Sweden Expo at the Sustainability Arena from 1 October 2021 – 31 March 2022

After a one-year postponement of the event due to the pandemic, Axis Communications is preparing for its attendance at Expo 2020, a World Expo hosted by Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The company is an official partner of the Sweden Pavilion in the event’s Sustainability District. Expo 2020 is scheduled to take place in Dubai from 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022.

Axis will be showcasing technology that is designed to make the world’s urban environments more sustainable, improving the quality of life for the increasing number of people living in cities and helping city authorities meet their sustainability goals. The sustainability and livability objectives of the world’s cities have only become more critical following the global pandemic as authorities look to enable a safe return to city life.

The theme of the Sweden Pavilion is ‘Co-creation for Innovation’, and as part of this Axis will present solutions for smart cities, where the combination of technologies and data allow authorities to understand and manage key areas of urban life. These include the environment (air quality and noise pollution), mobility (public transport and traffic management) and public safety (crowd management and monitoring of public spaces).

Peter Lindström, Executive Vice President Sales at Axis, commented: “Given the global pandemic, the postponement of Expo 2020 was absolutely the right decision, but doesn’t lessen our enthusiasm for representing Sweden as a leader in the creation of technology that makes the world a safer and smarter place. We’re particularly pleased to be part of the Expo’s Sustainability District, which continues to be a critical focus for governments and citizens across the planet.”

Ettiene van der Watt, Regional Director - Middle East & Africa at Axis, added: “Axis has a long-term presence in this dynamic region, and Expo 2020 being hosted by Dubai is hugely exciting and a great endorsement for the Middle East as a region of innovation. Added to that, of course, is the honor of Axis being represented in the Sweden Pavilion and particularly as part of the Sustainability District, demonstrating our pride at our Swedish heritage and also our commitment to sustainability.”

The Sweden Pavilion is one of the single largest export promotion activities carried out by the Swedish Government in the coming years. Besides participating in the exhibition by displaying Axis network solutions for improved security, Axis will be responsible for video surveillance, access control and intercoms as part of the security solution for the Sweden Pavilion.

Axis will host high-impact events during the expo, which include:

  • Smart Cities - Dependable technology for a changing world - Register now!
  • Artificial Intelligence for a Smarter and Safer Tomorrow
  • Technologies for a better future
  • Securing the 5G era
  • The power of partnership
  • Quality & Cybersecurity as a pillar for surveillance
