How do I enable SSH on the network camera/video encoder?

Follow the steps below to enable SSH in Axis camera/video encoders:

  1. Assure that product is running firmware version 5.50.1 or later.
  2. Access the ssh file by using this link:

    http://IP/admin-bin/editcgi.cgi?file=/etc/conf.d/ssh
    (where IP is the product's IP address)

  3. Enable SSH by setting SSHD_ENABLED=“yes”
  4. Save the ssh file.
  5. Restart the camera/video encoder.

After these changes, you will be able to access the camera/video encoder with SSH from your Linux machine or by using for example Putty client:


Note: Axis does not take any responsibility for how these configuration changes may affect your system. If the modification fails or if you get other unexpected results, you may have to restore the factory default settings as described in the User’s Manual.
