The background service will start automatically after the upgrade. - After upgrade to this version it is not possible to downgrade to the previous version without a complete uninstallation. - If AXIS Camera Station is upgraded any AXIS Camera Station Clients must also be upgraded. Uninstallation ============= - Run 'Uninstall' under Start/Control Panel/Add or Remove programs/ Some files might need to be manually erased under C:\Program Files\Axis Communications\Axis Camera Station\ and under C:\TempACS\. - Recordings are not erased by 'Uninstall' and need to be manually erased under C:\Recordings\ or where located as specified for each camera. Recommendations =============== - Observe the hardware requirements for running AXIS Camera Station. See users documentation at www.axis.com for details. - If the hardware requirements are not fulfilled, a warning message will be opened during installation. If the program is installed in spite of this, performance of the program may be considerable limited. - Install AXIS Camera Station on a dedicated computer mainly running this application. - Make sure the 'Web server IP address' under Options/General Settings/General is set to the IP address of the computer running AXIS Camera Station. - It is recommended to set up recovery options for the background service. This is done under: ControlPanel/AdminTools/Services/AXISCameraStation/Properties/ RecoveryOptions - Defragment the harddisk periodically for optimal performance. - Make sure used Axis devices run latest available firmware. - Check your Motion Detection settings after upgrading to this version. - If password protection is enabled in AXIS Camera Station it is recommended to be logged on as a user with admin rights in AXIS Camera Station when upgrading. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- New features ============ MPEG-4 recording - AXIS Camera Station 2.00 now supports MPEG-4 recordings (video only) and playback for Axis products supporting MPEG-4. MPEG-4 recording gives lower bandwidth and lower storage needs particular for high frame rate recordings. New administration user interface - The administration user interface is redesigned. The settings are overall divided into a more logical order to ease configuration. Administration can now be found under the ‘Options’ menu. New recording playback engine - A scrollbar is used for simple navigation within the recordings. - Playback dialog also shows metadata about the recording such as trigger type, time and date, length, size, format, frames per second etc. User defined live view splits - It is now possible to define window split views for individual users. User1 can have a four-split view with different cameras than User2. Audit log - All user actions are now easily available in an audit log. Enabled for users with administrator rights. This useful tool allows administrators to search happenings by time, user and type of happening or camera. The Audit log can also be exported. Automatic camera installation at first start - The first time AXIS Camera Station 2.00 is started a search function automatically finds and installs Axis video devices on your network. If there are more cameras on your network than you have a license for, an Install Cameras dialog opens with a list to select from. Camera support - In addition to the cameras already supported, AXIS Camera Station now supports AXIS 207W, AXIS 212 PTZ, AXIS 214 PTZ, AXIS 216FD, AXIS 225FD, AXIS 231D+, 232D+ and AXIS 242S IV. Other - The Event Log can now be sorted on date, time, camera and event type. It can also be exported. - Pre- and post-buffer handling of motion detection recording has been improved. - Single camera pop-up now uses original image size without scaling which gives improved image quality. - Uninstalling the AXIS Camera Station using ‘Add/Remove Program’ in Windows will automatically un-register used AXIS Camera Station licenses if the computer is connected to the Internet. This will enable move to new/other hardware without the need to contact Axis Technical Support. - A new user access right called ‘Viewer’ allowing access only to live video has been added. - New recording engine for improved performance and stability. - User interface with an updated look and feel. - The web interface can now play and export events as AVI movies. - Camera definitions are now presented by its name. - MPEG-4 recordings can be exported in ASF format. - When printing images, the printer can now be selected - Camera search function has been replaced with a new fast search based on AXIS Camera Management. The new function will find cameras on other ports than the default port 80. - More flexible recording database settings, and improved cleanup algorithm - A Configuration sheet has been added under the Help menu, which gives a quick overview of the camera settings. - Live view now uses AXIS Media Control live view component directly, giving a faster start to image flow after changing the live view selection. Corrected problems since 1.20 ============================= - Camera cycling (Guard Tour/Patrolling) now works with more than 20 cameras. - To avoid problems with mixed recordings, it is not possible to have two cameras with the same name. - If a PTZ camera is opened from the I/O alarm table, PTZ controls will now be shown. - When a camera is viewed live in the web interface, there is now an indication if the connection to the camera is lost. - The bars in the Schedule tab in Administration now works with non default 'Themes' in Windows XP. - Suggested default recording image size for older Axis cameras such as AXIS 2100/2110/2120/2420 is now CIF. - A live view stream is now automatically restarted if lost. - In event playback, an area can be selected and enlarged. The enlarged area now corresponds to the area selected. - A problem with occasionally missing reference images in an event search result has been corrected - Various problems with Station - Client communication have been corrected. - Live viewing stability has been improved. Known limitations ================= - Recordings and backups to network mapped drive letters don't work. Use the full network path instead, e.g. \\computer\directory - Due to performance reasons, motion detection in AXIS Camera Station and Advanced Search are not supported for MPEG-4. Motion detection in the camera is supported and recommended. - If DNS names are used for local network resources they must be entered with domain like camera1.mycompany.com. - When AXIS Camera Station accesses cameras outside the local network the proxy settings of the current account is used. Automatic configuration scripts cannot be used. The recording service runs under the Local System Account, and the service user must be changed to use the proxy settings. - Web interface only works on MS IE 6.0 or higher. - Overview page in the web interface will not show any images from MPEG-only devices such as AXIS 230 and 250. - AXIS Camera Station does not support the switch to and from daylight saving time. Daylight saving should be disabled on the computer running AXIS Camera Station. - If a Camera is selected in the alarm table in the web interface it will open in the alarm table window. - Sometimes the alarm table does not show correct status for any active (red) I/O after the background service is started. The alarm table in the web interface does not have this problem. - Pop-up calendar when setting specific scheduling dates will be in the default language set on the PC. - If several cameras are set to record from the same I/O the Alarm table will only show one a button for one camera. - The alarm table can only show 8 I/O alarms. More I/O alarms can be defined but they are not shown in the alarm table. - If the web interface is enabled it will create a virtual folder called /tempacs in the wwwroot folder pointing to C:\tempacs. This can fail without any message if the AXIS Camera Station administrator does not have full admin rights on the used computer. In this case the web interface will only show blank images for any recording. - Minimum screen resolution is 1024x768. Smaller resolutions will show corrupted windows. - AVI generation of b/w recordings will be larger than color recordings. - AVI generation of recordings smaller than CIF will be playbacked in QCIF format. - AVI playback image size might depend on AVI player used. - 'Save image to disk' in 4-view playback on station does sometimes not save any image(s). - A player for saved recordings with the previous ZIP method (1.10 and lower) can be requested from Axis Technical support if needed. Upgrade considerations ====================== - During upgrade the recording database will not be converted into the new internal format used in 2.00. A separate player for 1.20 and earlier versions is included. It will not be possible to downgrade to version 1.20 or earlier to maintain the recordings after the upgrade to 2.00. Save important recordings in AVI format before upgrading. - AXIS Camera Station Clients connected to the AXIS Camera Station must also be upgraded. - Users running 1.11 or lower should upgrade to version 1.20 before upgrading to 2.00. - The Recording Database settings should be verified after update (Options - General Settings - Recording Database). - At this time AXIS Camera Station 2.00 is available in English only. French, German, Italian, Spanish and Russian will be available soon. - Motion detection recording properties are different in version 2.00 and the installation should be checked for proper motion detection operation after upgrade. - Proxy settings have been removed from the application. Live view relies, as before, on Internet Explorer proxy settings. For remote cameras accessed via a proxy server, the background recording service now uses the proxy settings for the user account that runs the background service. - Recording images via FTP is no longer available. - I/O triggered recording mode ‘FTP’ is not available in this version. - I/O will not work with AXIS 221, 240Q, 241QA/SA, 225FD, 216FD, 214PTZ or 207W unless they are upgraded to firmware 4.40 or higher. - AXIS 205 must be updated to firmware version 4.05 or higher to work with AXIS Camera Station 2.0 or higher. Other ===== - To make a factory default of AXIS Camera Station copy all files from the folder: c:\Program Files\AXIS Communications\AXIS Camera Station\parm to c:\Program Files\AXIS Communications\AXIS Camera Station\ (applicable when installed in the default directory) License information will not be affected.
