A new service release will address that mid-March 2016. * Please refer to the Migration Guide before upgrading from version 4 or earlier. Available at http://www.axis.com/files/tech_notes/migration_guide_acs_5_en_1603.pdf New features in 5.00.009: ======================== Major Release ======================== User Interface * Improved responsiveness in user interface * Fast video search "Video Scrubbing" * Improved navigation for large systems * Large systems can enable the "Tree View" (by going to Main menu > Options > Customize > General) for an optimized layout in Live View and Recording workspaces. * Drag & Drop support * Multi-select support * Cameras and views can be organized into folders * Cameras and views can be filtered in the tree view * More information: http://www.axis.com/support/faq/FAQ116235 --------- New rendering * Improved media engine and video quality * Improved jitter handling * Hardware decoding available on compatible graphics cards --------- Third Party Device Support * Selected ONVIF Profile S conformant third party devices are supported through some key functions of the IEC62676-2-3 standard. * For validation of your third party device, use AXIS Device Compatibility Tool available at: http://www.axis.com/support/downloads/axis-camera-station-device-compatibility-tool * More information and supported features available at: http://www.axis.com/support/faq/FAQ116215 --------- Mobile-App * AXIS mobile apps for Android and iOS * Android: Requires OS 4.2.2 * Thumbnails of Axis cameras * Live View * Take snapshot * iOS: Requires iOS 8 * Android features + Recording playback --------- New License model * One license is now required for each device, including auxiliary devices. * New type of licenses: * Core Device license * Universal Device license * ACS 4 to Universal Device license * Core to Universal Device license * More information: http://www.axis.com/products/axis-camera-station/license * License calculator: http://www.axis.com/products/axis-camera-station/license-calculator * New Online License Portal available: http://www.axis.com/licenses --------- Changes made in 5.00.009 ======================== * If client settings file is corrupted, a new one is created instead of client crash. Info message is also displayed * The new media engine requires Windows Aero to be enabled (default on Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10). * CPU rendering is not available anymore. The GPU is used instead. * The function called "Image enhancement" is no longer available. * The "Show in Fullscreen" could cause client to freeze, this is now corrected. * 2CIF resolution are now cropped/scaled correctly. * Improved certificate handling for server-client connection * The limit of 100 channels per server is removed. Instead, the hardware recommendation is based on the total bandwidth per server. For more information read the hardware guidelines: http://www.axis.com/products/axis-camera-station/hardware-guidelines/system Known limitations ================= With AXIS Camera Station 5: AXIS Mobile App: - No support for third party devices. - No support for MPEG-4 or MJPEG. Only H.264 is supported. - No audio support (yet) - Not possible to connect to multiple servers simultaneously - Playback: - After fast forward playback, frame stepping does not work very well. Most of the time, pressing the backwards/forwards step button has no effect. - Backwards frame stepping of an H.264 recording only updates the playback image when reaching an I-frame. - Seeking on the timeline of an H.264 recording gives an image of the closest preceding I-frame instead of showing the actual image at the chosen position. - Playback of simultaneous streams can be slightly out of sync - To beneficiate from the multitrack view playback in AXIS File Player, the recordings need to be done and exported with version 5.05 or above. - The current split in AXIS File Player is limited to one or four cameras only. Adding more than 4 cameras will only display the first 4 in the timeline. Other cameras can be selected from the dropdown menu. - Automatic reconnection after server upgrade: - The client will only be restarted if it is connected to a single server. Otherwise the reconnection will fail and the user will have to manually reconnect to the servers. - For the client to automatically log on the server again after the restart, the "Remember me" checkbox on the log on screen must have been checked when the server was logged on to last time. - The server needs to be fully licensed for the automatic reconnection to work. - The ACS Client needs to be 5.05 or higher In order to beneficiate from the automatic reconnection. - Hardware decoding can cause client instability when using old graphics cards or old drivers. - Users part of the "Guest" group may encounter issues when connecting to the Server. - Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 are no longer supported operating systems. - Audio output to camera is only supported from firmware 5.10 - AXIS Camera Station will use the current regional settings from Windows but will not make use of any custom settings e.g. numeric separators etc. - I/O will not work with AXIS 221, 240Q, 241QA/SA, 225FD, 216FD, 214PTZ or 207W unless they are upgraded to firmware 4.40 or higher. - I/O monitor may lock on "Changing..." when toggling output state in P8221. - If a network disk is configured in AXIS Camera Station, then afterwards physically removed from the network, there is a risk that the disk can't be removed from the AXIS Camera Station configuration. - AXIS Camera Station Client installed on Windows 2008/2012 Server should only be used for configuration and not media viewing since for many graphics adapters there are no up to date drivers available for server operating systems. - DirectX 11 is required for proper rendering of three 4K streams. Windows 7 won't be able to display three 4 K streams on three monitors. See https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2724530 for details. - Failover recording might produce a recording gap of 5 seconds at the beginning of the failover clip when used with cameras with firmware 5.60 and above. An investigation is ongoing. - Joystick hotkeys do not work after changing language - H.265 is only supported for Axis products, not for third party cameras. - For Windows 10 N editions: The Media Feature Pack is required to install AXIS Camera Station Server and Client. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3133719/media-feature-pack-for-n-editions-of-windows-10-version-1607. Installing the standalone Windows Media Player is not sufficient. Windows 10 N editions are not part of the official Axis QA testing. - AXIS Video Content Stream (Automatically uploaded by AXIS Camera Station during Add camera wizard) should not run in parallel of AXIS Perimeter Defender due to performance limitation. Make sure AXIS Video Content Stream is “stopped” or not installed in the camera web interface > Applications. - Old cameras using firmware 4.x can only use MPEG-4 for the High profile. The Medium and Low profile need to be set to MJPEG. This is due to camera performance limitations. - Image configuration doesn't support multi-channel products properly, i.e. image configurations are fetched from the first channel only. Also changes made to any channel are applied only to the first channel. - VMD 4 and multi-sensor devices: Configuration on one camera on multi-sensor device (e.g. Q6000, F44, Q37xx...) will disable the profile and configuration for the device other cameras. All configuration should be done through the cameras web interface. For ACS 4 release notes, visit www.axis.com/ftp/pub_soft/cam_srv/cam_station/4_31_018/relnote.txt Best Regards, Axis Communications
