The top-of-the-line AXIS Q60 PTZ Dome Network Camera Series now includes models with improved performance and efficiency. Four of the new models include focus recall, a feature that provides instant focus in predefined areas. The new cameras also offer an enhanced processor for higher analytics capacity, as well as higher light sensitivity. The new AXIS Q60 PTZ Dome Network Cameras all include Axis’ Zipstream technology that significantly reduces bandwidth and storage requirements.

The focus recall feature in four of the new AXIS Q60 models instantly focuses in predefined areas, simplifying the use of a PTZ camera in challenging light.
Axis Communications, the market leader in network video, introduces six new models to its AXIS Q60 PTZ Dome Network Camera Series, bringing a new range of performance and efficiency features for demanding video surveillance applications. The cameras, which provide exceptional coverage of wide areas, high detail when zooming in, and outstanding light sensitivity and dynamics, are ideal for city surveillance, airports, train stations, harbors, warehouses and indoor or outdoor arenas and stadiums.

The focus recall feature, available in AXIS Q6052/-E and AXIS Q6054/-E, provides instant focus in predefined areas, making it easier to use a PTZ camera optimally in challenging light conditions. With focus recall, there is no need to manually focus or wait for the autofocus to adjust. Focus recall is especially beneficial in scenes with low contrast and point-shaped light sources, for example, strong headlights from oncoming traffic. It is also useful in scenarios that require a lot of manual operation using a joystick.

The new cameras are the first cameras in AXIS Q60 Series to offer Axis’ Zipstream technology, a H.264 compatible compression technology that reduces bandwidth and storage requirements by up to 50% even during camera movements. Zipstream provides control over bandwidth peaks, allows users to preserve more forensic detail where needed and lowers installation and maintenance costs significantly.

AXIS Q6055/-E comes with several built-in Axis video analytic applications for greater efficiency and added business value. Detection of security incidents through automatic monitoring of the video feed makes it possible to prevent crime, and integration of video data into other systems contributes to business insights. In addition, the cameras also have substantial capacity for third-party applications from Axis partners.

“With these new PTZ cameras, we have raised the bar in terms of performance and efficiency,” said Fredrik Nilsson, VP, Americas, Axis Communications, Inc. “The new features are best suited for the most demanding surveillance applications, both in regards to the required image quality as well as the cameras’ operating conditions. By adding Zipstream technology, users will benefit from significant cost savings and bandwidth efficiency.”

The new AXIS Q60 cameras deliver up to 36x optical zoom and up to 1080p resolution, depending on model. They all include day/night functionality, Wide Dynamic Range (WDR), and a memory card slot. The indoor models offer two-way audio, audio detection, I/O ports, and 24 V AC/DC power and IP52-rated protection against dust and dripping water. The rugged outdoor models are vandal resistant (IK10 rating) and have IP66- and NEMA 4X-rated protection against dust, rain and snow. They also feature Arctic Temperature Control, which ensures safe start-up at temperatures down to -40 °F, even after a power failure.

AXIS Q6052/-E, AXIS Q6054/-E and AXIS Q6055/-E are supported by the industry’s largest base of video management software through the Axis Application Development Partner (ADP) Program and AXIS Camera Station. Third-party audio and video analytics applications can be installed through AXIS Camera Application Platform.

AXIS Q6052/-E, AXIS Q6054/-E and AXIS Q6055/-E are planned to be available in August through Axis’ standard distribution channels. The suggested retail price ranges from $2,099 to $3,099 depending on the model.
