To Axis' European distributors, resellers and partners

Re:  Directive 1999/44/EC of 25 May 1999 on certain aspects of the sale of consumer goods and associated guarantees, implemented in all EU countries on January 1, 2002.

This statement is to confirm that Axis Communications AB honors the Directive.

The Directive expressly states that it does not affect the principle of freedom of contract between a producer and its resellers or distributors. Despite this, Axis will, however, in relation to its European partners apply the principles set forth below:

In the event that a partner that is reselling or distributing Axis’ products within EU is responsible in relation to a consumer (as defined in Article 2 a) of Directive 1999/44/EC) within EU for a defect in the Product, which defect is attributable to Axis, Axis will give the partner the same remedy as the partner has given the consumer with respect to the faulty Product, provided that the consumer by evidence has bought the Product for personal use only, that the partner is responsible towards the consumer in accordance with Directive 1999/44/EC and that the consumer has given the partner notice of the defect within the two-year period stipulated in Article 5 of Directive 1999/44/EC.
