Axis launches four new products at IFSEC 2007

Axis Communications, the global leader in the network video market1, is unveiling a total of four new IP-surveillance products at IFSEC 2007 (Hall 20, stand 15045) this week.

Three new Axis megapixel network cameras will make their debut at IFSEC.  First, the AXIS 211M is a 1.3 megapixel network camera which uses megapixel resolution in MPEG-4 and Motion JPEG streams to achieve video surveillance with exceptional image detail, ideal for use in professional security applications.

Two new megapixel dome network cameras, the AXIS 216MFD and AXIS 216MFD-V include a 1.3 megapixel sensor with progressive scan, which reduces motion blur in comparison with traditional PAL/NTSC cameras providing interlaced video. The standard AXIS 216MFD version offers a tamper-resistant plastic cover, suitable for indoor video surveillance, whereas AXIS 216MFD-V features a rugged, vandal-resistant casing with a metal base specifically adapted for indoor environments subject to vandalism.

The fourth new product which will be announced at IFSEC is the AXIS 215 PTZ Network Camera, which includes a recently introduced auto-flip feature that reverses the pan direction whenever the camera reaches the mechanical stop at 180°, taking about one second to perform the ‘flip’. Auto-flip means the AXIS 215 PTZ has no blind spots and is suitable for mounting in the centre of the ceiling.

Axis will be showcasing its partnership with 47 exhibitors across IFSEC and will also be hosting twenty free seminars targeting IFSEC attendees over the four days of the exhibition in a dedicated seminar facility (Hall 17, Stand 23250).  Seminar topics include migrating surveillance from analogue to IP, designing an IP-surveillance system and the benefits of megapixel.

Axis will also be hosting a seminar which provides more detail about its ‘Architecture and Engineering’ (A&E) programme designed to support network architects, engineers and consultants who are responsible for developing IP-surveillance solutions. Those who are interested in attending a seminar can register at the main Axis stand.  Axis has teamed up with leading partners including Genetec, Proxim and Via Sys who will be present in their stand and will explain how their solutions integrate with IP-surveillance.

Axis is a participant in the main IFSEC seminar programme. UK managing director Steve Gorski will present an Axis success story from Hughes & Hughes, the Eire-based book retailer.  Hughes & Hughes recently installed Axis network cameras throughout its books stores in Dublin Airport, in order to cut insurance fraud, thefts and support senior management decision-making. The presentation will be held at 1.45PM on Tuesday 22nd May 2007 in Hall 18 at the IP and Networking Seminar Theatre. Gorski will also be presenting at the same theatre on Wednesday 23rd May at 12 noon, explaining how Axis has worked with Stockholm Transport to integrate network cameras across 2,100 buses and 113 train and metro stations.

Steve Gorski, managing director, Axis Communications (UK) Ltd, commented:

“We are very excited to be launching four new Axis network cameras at IFSEC.  Our new megapixel cameras offer three times the image resolution compared to traditional analogue CCTV cameras and are packed with innovative features.  We are sure that these cameras will be generating a great deal of interest at IFSEC this year.”
