Axis Communications, the global market leader in network video1, has announced that the AXIS 212 PTZ Network Camera received the coveted award of ‘Best CCTV Product 2006,’ from Detektor, the leading security technology trade magazine for the EMEA market2.
The Detektor International Awards were introduced seven years ago to honour manufacturers who contribute innovative, original and/or new technological development, designs and products to the industry. The judging panel also takes into account values important to the end user or operator such as user friendliness. This year’s Detektor International Awards gala dinner was attended by 130 security professionals and held at the Scandic Hotel in Copenhagen. In total 12 security products were nominated in the categories of CCTV, Alarm and Access Control products.
On the AXIS 212 PTZ winning the award, the Detektor International Awards
judges said: "The AXIS 212 PTZ Network Camera is really good news for everyone
that believes advanced video surveillance can solve security problems. This
camera has all the qualities to become both a versatile and ideal monitoring
solution."
The revolutionary AXIS 212 PTZ is a digital pan/tilt/zoom (PTZ) network camera
that provides instant, one-click PTZ functionality and automatic patrolling
without using moving parts which suffer from wear and tear. The compact and
discreet design of the AXIS 212 PTZ makes it ideal for monitoring areas up to
150 square metres, such as shops and reception areas.
Johan Lembre, vice president, product management at Axis Communications
commented:
“We are delighted that Detektor has acknowledged a truly innovative product and
are very pleased with winning this prestigious award for the second time in a
row. The AXIS 225FD Fixed Dome Network Camera won Detektor’s ‘Best CCTV Product’
award in 2005.”
Steve Gorski, managing director, Axis Communications (UK) commented:
“This is fantastic news – it demonstrates the pace that Axis sets in terms of
product innovation and to win twice in two years is a stunning achievement.”
