Axis Communications, the global market leader in network video1, has introduced the AXIS 243SA Video Server, the first one-channel video server that supports Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6). IPv6 is the evolutionary internet upgrade that will expand IP addresses from 32 bits to 128 bits, effectively increasing the amount of IP addresses available from 232 to 2128. The AXIS 243SA provides de-interlaced video at full frame rates in both MPEG-4 and MJPEG compressions. It is ideal for installations that require full-motion video, such as casinos, airports, traffic surveillance and prisons.
The video server has integrated two-way audio functionality, which enables
users to hear intruders and communicate orders. It supports dome cameras and
pan/tilt/zoom cameras through a built-in serial port. The
AXIS 243SA also
features powerful event-management tools, including video motion detection,
pre/post-alarm buffering, and triggered event functionality with alarm
notification.
Johan Lembre, vice president, product management of Axis Communications
commented:
"Axis is committed to delivering future proof network video products and has
broadened its existing video server portfolio with the market's first
IPv6-compatible video server. Delivering high-quality, full frame rate video,
the AXIS 243SA meets the demands of customers converting from analogue CCTV to
digital video in the fast-growing IP-Surveillance market."
Steve Gorski, managing director, Axis Communications (UK) commented:
“With full frame rate video, the AXIS 243SA allows users who need the highest
picture quality to reap the benefits of switching to digital, with a video
server which is IPv6 compatible.”
The AXIS 243SA is supported by the industry’s largest base of application
software through the Axis ADP program. The video server will be available
through Axis’ distribution channels in <insert month> at a recommended retail
price of £<insert price> excluding VAT.
