Axis receives further recognition for 225 FD
The global leader in network video Axis Communications1, is delighted that its Fixed Dome day/night network camera, the AXIS 225 FD, has been awarded ‘five star highly recommended’ status by leading UK PC magazine, PC Pro, following an extensive review of the camera during March 2006.
Summing up the camera, the reviewer, Dave Mitchell, described the camera as: “A tough customer that looks strong enough to handle the rigours of exterior network video surveillance, with top image quality plus a wide range of useful alerting and alarm functions”.
The AXIS 225 FD delivers progressive scan, Power over Ethernet (PoE) and a built-in heater to prevent condensation. It also has a vandal-resistant, outdoor-proof design that makes it ideal for prisons, campuses, parking garages, railway stations, and other environments where impact resistance and weatherproofing is required.
It also offers simultaneous Motion JPEG and MPEG-4 video compression to optimise both video quality and bandwidth consumption. Its compatibility with the PoE standard IEEE 802.3af helps reduce installation costs and enables consolidation of the power source to a highly resilient central location. The day and night camera uses an infrared filter which automatically switches over once lighting conditions move above or below one lux. This enables high-quality images under all lighting conditions, including colour video in high- and low-light conditions and black-and-white video in dark conditions.
The AXIS 225FD uses a progressive scan CCD image sensor that enables moving images to be presented without distortion or blur up to 30 frames per second in VGA resolution. It also offers the highest security measures through the use of multi-level password protection, IP address filtering and HTTPS encryption. Available accessories include ceiling-mount brackets for installation on indoor ceilings and smoked glass for increased discretion.
Steve Gorski, managing director of Axis Communications UK Ltd said: “It is great to get this valued recognition for the AXIS 225FD, our first fixed-dome network camera, complementing the extensive existing product portfolio of professional-level network cameras. Due to the increasing requirement for network cameras in harsh environments, Axis has launched this robust, smart, all-in-one product to enhance the convenience for our partners and installers.”
The AXIS 225FD is supported by the industry’s largest base of application software through the Axis Application Developer Partner (ADP) programme. The AXIS 225FD is available through Axis’ distribution channels at a recommended retail price of £684 + vat.
