AXIS 225FD Fixed Dome Network Camera awarded SecuTech Award 2006
Axis Communications, the IP-Surveillance market leader 1 has announced that its AXIS 225FD Fixed Dome Network Camera has been awarded the SecuTech Award 2006 in the Digital Surveillance award category, the second prestigious industry award that this camera has received since its launch in November 2005.
The SecuTech Award was established in 2001 to encourage security product innovation and recognise efforts in product development. This year the SecuTech Award for best security technology products and innovation is based on 6,368 global online votes as well as deliberations and votes from a panel of more than 20 experts including senior journalists and professional consultants. The AXIS 225FD has already been recognised with a previous Detektor International award late last year.
The panel of judges considered the AXIS 225FD to be a smart and innovative all-in-one product, encompassing a high performance camera with progressive scan, Power over Ethernet (PoE), a built-in heater/fan, all in a vandal-resistant housing. The panel summed up this award by saying:
“Axis has given another brilliant example of state-of-the-art network camera technology for video surveillance applications."
The
AXIS 225FD Fixed Dome Network Camera was successful in winning the digital surveillance category. The AXIS 225FD uses a progressive scan CCD image sensor that enables moving images to be presented without distortion or blur up to 30 frames per second in VGA resolution. It also offers the highest security measures through the use of multi-level password protection, IP address filtering and HTTPS encryption. Available accessories include ceiling-mount brackets for installation on indoor ceilings and smoked glass for increased discretion.
Steve Gorski, managing director of Axis Communications (UK) Ltd concluded:
“We are delighted to receive this award, especially since it is Axis’ first fixed dome network camera designed in response to the increasing requirement for network cameras in harsh environments. Axis is committed to maintain its market leading position with the development of professional and innovative products for network video.”
The AXIS 225FD is supported by the industry’s largest base of application software through the Axis Application Developer Partner (ADP) programme. The AXIS 225FD is available through Axis’ distribution channels. It has a recommended retail price of £699 + VAT.
Products are judged across five different categories for the SecuTech Award; CCTV, digital surveillance, access control, alarms and others. The products are scored against various criteria with each counting for a percentage of the final score. Innovation accounts for 30 per cent and looks at new product design, usability address ease of installation and use for 25 per cent of the mark. Functionality, stability and value-added functions represent 25 percent in the Technology area whilst attention to design scores 20 per cent .
