Axis named as network camera market leader in JP Freeman Research Report

Axis Communications, the global leader in the network video market, announced today that the research and consulting company, JP Freeman Co Inc, has identified Axis as market share leader in the network video market. The 2005 report on the Worldwide Network and IP Video Market estimates that total network camera sales in the US will reach £320 million by 2008. Currently the US represents 30 per cent of Axis’ global sales as against the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) market which represents 51 per cent of its sales.

Joe Freeman, president and CEO of JP Freeman said:
“In our research, Axis Communications was the most recognised network camera brand among integrators and resellers in the US. Interest in the network video market continues to be strong and has increased significantly in the past year. We expect that Axis will continue to lead the market with its innovative cutting-edge network video technology”.

The JP Freeman research also estimates that network camera sales will exceed those of analogue cameras in the US by 2007 and that network camera sales will more than double those of analogue camera sales in the US network video market by 2008. According to the US-based report approximately 25 per cent of security users currently use network cameras, while 45 per cent have plans to buy the technology in the near future.

Dominic Bruning, managing director of Axis Communications UK commented:
“In 1996, Axis was the first company to launch a network camera. Since then, we have established market leadership globally through our un-relenting commitment to innovation, market education and geographical expansion. This endorsement follows similar statements from more European-orientated analyst houses including IMS Research (report dated January 2004) and Frost and Sullivan (report dated March 2005)”.
