AXIS Media Control - FAQ

Accessing the MPEG-4 stream using Windows Media Player

Question:

How do I access MPEG-4 stream delivered by AXIS 210/211 Network Camera using Windows Media Player on a PC?

Answer:

The primary method of accessing MPEG-4 streams is through the Live View in the Axis product's web interface.

When accessing an MPEG-4 stream from camera/video servers using Windows Media Player, a so-called ‘Ax protocol’ needs to be used.

Depending on the transmission method used, the following URL’s should be used:
Multicast RTP: axrtpm://IP/mpeg4/#/media.amp
Unicast RTP: axrtpu://IP/mpeg4/#/media.amp
RTP over RTSP: axrtsp://IP/mpeg4/#/media.amp
RTP over RTSP over HTTP: axrtsphttp://IP/mpeg4/#/media.amp
Unicast via RTSP, tunneled via HTTPS*: axrtsphttps://IP/mpeg4/#/media.amp

Notes:
IP = IP address.
# = video source number or the quad stream. This is set to 1 if omitted.
* Only for products that support HTTPS.
