AXIS Media Control - FAQ

AXIS Media Control viewer installation on Windows Vista

Question:

I try to access video in the Live View of my camera on a Windows Vista machine and instead of the video I get the message that AXIS Media Control component is not installed. What should I do to get this component installed?

Answer:
Assure that you are running the latest firmware version on your product:
http://www.axis.com/techsup/firmware.php?value=camserver
If that does not help follow these instructions:

  1.  Add your camera to the trusted sites list in the Internet Explorer like this:

Open Tools > Internet Options > Security > Trusted Sites

    Press "Sites..." button

Add the Axis device's IP-address (wildcards can be used to add subnets).
  2.  Save settings and close Internet Explorer.
  3.  Install Vista compatible AXIS Media Control viewing component by running .msi package available at:
    http://www.axis.com/techsup/software/amc/index.htm
  4.  In the .msi package under 3., MPEG-4 decoder and AAC decoder (where applicable i.e. see specifications of the particular product functionality) are not included. To get the decoders installed, right click on the Internet Explorer icon and select 'Run as Administrator'. Then access the Live View and MPEG-4 stream of the product to get these components installed.
