Developers

If you are a new developer for the Axis Network Document Server, follow this easy flowchart to get acquainted with the power of XML and how easy it is to develop for the Axis Network Document Server.

Read the Whitepaper instructions

Axis has released a series of Whitepapers explaining the underlying technology and real-life example scenarios to "Network your Documents". You find the Whitepapers under the link "Documentation".

Download and install an XML Editor

You can write your Meta Data / XML files using basically any text editor. There are some links to Freeware XML editors with syntax validation possibilities together with Axis' MetaData.dtd file. You will find the editors under the "Tools" link. If you are using a plain text editor, there is a built-in validation parser in the AXIS 70U to test-run your code. This can be reached from the internal web pages of the AXIS 70U under menu button "Support".

Download and Associate Metadata.dtd file for validation

The Axis MetaData.dtd file defines the syntax of the XML DD (Document Description) file, which used for specifying prompts that will be shown for the user as well as the format of the information file with entered values. By associating it with the validation mechanism of your XML editor you will ensure that your XML file will work with the Axis Network Document Server.

Download and Open any of the Code Samples to learn how they work

A number or of real-life code samples are available, under the link "Documentation", to describe the simplicity and flexibility of the Network Document Server concept. You can cut & paste or save these files as you like.

Configure the AXIS 70U to load your Code Sample

The "final" step to start working with Axis Network Document Server, is to configure the AXIS 70U to load your XML files.  This is  explained in the User's Manual  under the section Meta Information.
