Recommendations for installing more RAM

The AXIS StorPoint CD-E100 and StorPoint NAS 100 and  is shipped with 32 MB of RAM. It's possible  to install an additional RAM module of either 32 MB, 64 MB, or 128 MB  size. The additional RAM should be a standard 50 ns 144 pin EDO DIMM  module. The following RAM sizes configurations are possible:  

• 2 MB (original configuration) 
• 64 MB (additional 32 MB module) 
• 96 MB (additional 64 MB module) 
• 160 MB (additional 128 MB module) 

Normally the standard 32 MB are sufficient, but there are two situations  where it could be of use to install additional RAM: 

• When you have large files that are accessed repeatedly but don't fit  into the current RAM cache 
• When a large number of users work concurrently with different files 
  though sometimes repeatedly used 

By accessing the statistics page of the StorPoint Web administration,  you will be able to see the number of currently attached users and time  elapsed since the latest access. If the active number of Windows (SMB)  users constantly exceeds 100 and/or the number of NetWare users  constantly exceeds 500, it might be worth considering installing more  RAM.
