From inside New York City's Ziegfeld theater, an AXIS 2420 Network Camera provided live Web coverage of celebrities at the premiere of MINORITY REPORT, a film directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Tom Cruise.
Dubbed the 'Popcorn Cam,' the network camera was located at the concession stand and captured live video of celebrities as they entered the lobby and chatted with fans in real time via a Web-based message board. This was the first ever live video broadcast from inside a major movie premiere.
Axis network cameras, which are primarily used for security and surveillance applications, first broke into the entertainment industry when they were installed on the set of A.I. (Artificial Intelligence) -- specifically for fan interaction with the cast and crew. Unlike analog cameras, Axis network cameras plug directly into existing data networks and easily make images accessible to appropriate people anywhere in the world over an intranet or the Internet.
