The Municipality of Sant’Agnello selects Axis for video surveillance of at-risk areas

Mission

The Municipality of Sant’Agnello is located between Piano di Sorrento and Sorrento and overlooks the Gulf of Naples and the Gulf of Salerno. The town originated in ancient times, and geologically the area dates back to the Quaternary Era.

The territory consists of a historic center and several villages. It is a magnet for tourism, where people come to admire ancient palaces, villas and monasteries from the 16th century and breathtaking panoramas over the Gulf of Naples and the Gulf of Salerno.

The municipal administration, sensitive to the needs of its own residents and the preservation of its artistic heritage, decided to provide the town with a video surveillance system to monitor traffic, illegal waste dumping, and to combat petty crime.

Solution

The Municipality of Sant’Agnello entrusted the mandate to Megi Office, a Sorrento-based systems integrator and Axis partner. After analyzing the area and conducting a feasibility study, it implemented the project using network cameras and software from Axis Communications.

Three years after the completion of the project, more than 20 Axis network cameras have been installed. The process of implementation is still in progress, because the need to monitor the zones at risk is ever-increasing.

Result

The Municipality of Sant’Agnello is satisfied with the video surveillance system installed to date in its territory, as confirmed by its desire to extend it still further.
