Turning Stone goes digital when expanding resort

$308 million expansion prompts migration to IP-Surveillance

$308 million expansion prompts migration to IP-Surveillance

Mission
When Turning Stone Resort and Casino embarked upon a major expansion of facilities, including the construction of an event center, hotel, lodge, championship golf courses and more, the company outgrew its existing legacy surveillance system. To upgrade the system using the same technology would have been far too expensive, leaving the door open for a migration to IP-Surveillance.

Solution
Turning Stone chose a gradual approach, getting both their security and IT departments to cooperate in introducing network cameras as a complement to their existing CCTV system. The company began by installing Axis network cameras with pan/tilt/zoom capabilities to monitor the construction site. The ability to remotely control the PTZ functionality live over LAN or the Internet factored in the decision. In the next phase, AXIS 211 Network Cameras were installed in other parts of the facility to take advantage of features like PoE and motion detection.

Result
The gradual migration to IP-Surveillance chosen by Turning Stone enabled substantial savings by avoiding an expensive upgrade of its matrix switcher. Instead, they could phase out the technology over time while implementing new technology as the facilities expanded. In addition, by choosing cameras with wireless technology, PoE and motion detection, Turning Stone could significantly lessen the costs of installation as well as the burden on security staff.
