Fail-over recording means that images can be temporarily stored in the network camera in case of network failure. The functionality provides increased system reliability and safeguards system operation.
Typical applications: Mission critical installations, or video surveillance where network coverage is limited/intermittent.
If a network failure occurs, the video stream from the camera will be stored on the camera’s SD/SDHC card. When the network connection is restored and the system returns to normal operation, the central VMS can retrieve and merge local video recordings seamlessly. This ensures that the user gets uninterrupted video recordings.
AXIS Camera Station is a complete monitoring and recording system for up to 100 cameras. Installed on a standard PC, it is ideal for retail shops, hotels and schools. AXIS Camera Station is designed to perfectly match Axis’ wide range of network products and product features such as fail-over recording in cameras with SD/SDHC for recording redundancy.
Expand the overall scalability and availability of your video surveillance system. With support for edge storage allowing cameras to function as redundant storage devices, Aimetis Symphony™ Standard is the ideal choice for organizations making a transition from analog CCTV or DVR technology to IP video. Aimetis E7000 Series™ Physical Security Appliance combines purpose-built hardware with all the benefits of Aimetis Symphony™ for constrained environment installations up to 16 cameras, such as small footprint retailers, gas stations and harsh environments.
ipConfigure, a leading developer of enterprise IP video surveillance solutions, leverages the edge storage capability of Axis network cameras in Enterprise Surveillance Manager (ESM). Tailored to accommodate smaller installations, ipConfigure reduces server-side storage requirements by taking advantage of edge storage on the camera. Alternatively, larger installations can use this feature as a failsafe in the event of network outages.
Video trickling is an innovative feature from Genetec that brings even more flexibility and reliability to the recording management of Omnicast. In the event that the camera loses connection to the server, or if the server is offline, the Omnicast Archiver can later retrieve and permanently archive the recorded video from the camera to fill the gap. The benefits of this feature are already being realized by customers like the Footscray Police Department.
Failover Recording Servers and Edge Storage with flexible retrieval ensure critical video data is always captured when using Milestone XProtect® Corporate video management software. In addition to retrieving the Edge Storage recordings from the camera when there is a failure, it is also possible to retrieve Edge Storage recordings on standard events or a defined schedule to meet specific installation needs or limitations.
