What is a document server?

A document server is a dedicated server that connects a scanner device to the network, enabling users to easily distribute digitized documents over IP-networks. Once a document, such as an article, photo, report or invoice, is digitized into such file formats as a PDF, TIFF, JPEG or PCL, the file can then be sent to e-mail addresses, printers, file servers, URLs or the Web. Easy to install and use, Axis' network document servers provide a faster, cheaper and safer method of distributing documents than by fax, traditional mail or courier.

Axis offers one document server: the AXIS 70U Network Document Server, which is optimized for document distribution with popular office scanners.
