How it fits into the company network
File server independence
- The AXIS Network Document Server is connected as a node in an
Ethernet/Fast Ethernet network, enabling scanner devices to be
accessed via standard protocols such as SMTP for sending
e-mails.
- The AXIS Network Document Server operates independently of other
equipment. No additional software is needed on any client or
file server. All that's needed is included in the unit.
Web-based management
- The built-in Web interface provides cross-platform management
from a standard Web browser. It includes menu-based capabilities
for defining network protocols, user privileges, destinations
etc.
- The administration pages are password-protected and
available only to the administrator.
- With several Axis ThinServer products on your network, the AXIS
ThinWizard™ management tool makes administration,
configuration and upgrading very efficient.
Bandwidth usage
- Thanks to the image compression technology used by the network
document server, distribution of the digitized documents will have
little impact on the network.
Upgrades
- AXIS Network Document Servers support a wide range of scanner
devices. So if the attached scanner doesn't fulfill all your needs, it can
be replaced with a more advanced scanner.
- The network document server's Flash memory allows central and
remote firmware updates over the network using FTP over TCP/IP.
The latest firmware can be downloaded from the Axis Web site.
