How to install it
Network connection
- Attach a scanner to the network document server using a SCSI
2-cable. (Optionally attach a keyboard for manually entering
e-mail addresses.)
- Connect the network document server to the IP network using an
Ethernet cable.
- The document server will automatically detect the type of
scanner attached and show the name on the display at startup.
All the drivers needed is included in the network document
server. A list of all supported devices can be found on the AXIS 70U
support pages.
- Assign an IP address to the network document server, either
automatically using DHCP or manually via the buttons on the
control panel. The current IP address can be shown on the
display.
- The network document server is configured using the
Administration tools in the built-in Web interface. If you have
an active DHCP or BOOTP server on the network, most network
settings will be set automatically.
Mail server
- Specify the IP address of the SMTP mail server that handles
e-mail facilities on your network.
E-mail addresses
- E-mail addresses can be referenced from an external address
book on an LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) server.
- You can also add e-mail destinations manually through the Web
interface.
Access control
- If the network document server is located on a Windows NT network,
standard NT methods can be used for user authentication.
- Authentication makes it possible to allow access to the network
document server for authorized users only. If user
authentication is used, the sender of scanned documents will
automatically be set to the logged-in user.
