It establishes a wireless connection to your network or to the Internet.

Q: How does the device work?

Via wireless radio technologies. The Axis 9010 has a Bluetooth wireless technology microchip with an embedded radio transmitter.

Q: What do I need to have in order to use an AXIS 9010?

An Ethernet LAN, or a TCP/IP-based broadband connection, and a mobile device enabled with Bluetooth wireless technology. The mobile device must support the Bluetooth LAN Access Profile.

Q: Is this a stand-alone device?

Yes. The AXIS 9010 has built-in intelligence and is based on Axis’ ThinServer Technology, which enables devices to be connected to any computer network seamlessly and cost-effectively. The cornerstone of this technology is the AXIS ETRAX system-on-a-chip, optimized for Internet applications and featuring embedded Linux.

Q: Does one AXIS 9010 work with others to provide wider coverage?
A: Yes.

Q: Can I reach a network printer or surf the Internet via the AXIS 9010?

Yes. Everything you can do via a wired connection can be done via a radio link.

No. It’s basically “plug and play.”

Q: Is an IP address necessary?
A:
Yes. Both the AXIS 9010 and your Bluetooth device need an IP address. It should be assigned by a network administrator or ISP, or assigned automatically by a DHCP server.

Q: How do I connect a mobile device to the AXIS 9010?
A:
Via software provided by the mobile device manufacturer. For more information, check the user's manual for your mobile device.

Q: How many Bluetooth devices can connect to each AXIS 9010?
A:
The AXIS 9010 currently supports up to six simultaneous data users.
