Q&A for the AXIS 670e - General

Q: We are using an AS/400. We have got some original IBM printers with twinax interfaces. Will any of your products allow us to connect these devices to our Ethernet LAN ?

A: Axis can offer a range of twinax, coax and LAN attached print servers. Our concept is to make it possible for the customer to use regular printers (with parallel interface) in a network with IBM and other host systems.

Our products accept input data over Ethernet, Token Ring, IBM Coax or IBM Twinax . Our products deliver output data over parallel or serial interfaces. We do not have any product that will output data over an IBM twinax interface.

Q: We are printing AFP/IPDS from our AS/400. We have a need to print drafts at times. It would be great if we could print multiple scaled down images of several pages on one physical page. Is that possible?

A:  Yes, using the Axis Host-to-LAN print servers, one, two or four pages may be printed on a physical page. This feature is what we call "n-up printing".

Q: Do the Axis host-to-LAN print servers support bar code printing with the same syntax as the AXIS Cobra+?

A: Yes, firmware version 5.58 or later does support AXIS Cobra style Extended Emulation barcode printing.
