The AXIS 5900 is a versatile, future-proof printing solution that enables a printer* to connect to a network by wired or wireless means, depending on the environment.

For a company with an 802.11b wireless local area network, the AXIS 5900 enables printers to wirelessly connect to the network. This means printers (together with the AXIS 5900) can now be moved around offices, work areas and conference rooms as easily as furniture. Both wired and wireless users will still be able to access the printer. 

In a traditional LAN environment, the AXIS 5900 connects to the network as a classical Ethernet multiprotocol print server. 

If the network environment changes from wired to wireless LAN, the AXIS 5900 is able to convert and operate as a wireless multiprotocol print server. Because of this flexibility, the AXIS 5900 is ideal for companies that already have, or plan to have, an 802.11b wireless LAN infrastructure.

In the case of a simple connection to a printer alone, the AXIS 5900 enables an 802.11b-equipped laptop to print wirelessly to the printer.
