Axis network cameras scare away vandals
People living at the Zeeburgkade in Amsterdam feel very
uncomfortable on the street caused by crime, burglary and drug
addicts. Therefore they installed Axis network cameras and camera recording
software to fight against this unsafe environment.
Within several hours after the installation done by Axis solution
partner, Tasc Security, the cameras proved their use. Two people tried
to force one entrance of one of the buildings at the Zeeburgkade and
discovered the cameras. After this discovery, they immediately left
the premises with their back to the cameras. The cameras recorded
their activity and prevented more from happening.
Revolutionary
The college of house owners decided to implement this camera
observation project to avoid more incidents in their neighborhood
and improve safety. The revolutionary point of this system is that
house owners can watch and monitor their houses over the Internet.
When they discover a crime or burglary, they can act fast and take
the appropriate action. The system stores evidence in case it is
needed. The house owners also discuss 'guarding tasks' with the
police to work in sync with the law.
Project 'Safety'
The project 'Safety'on the Zeeburgkade is supported by a
contribution of Fonds Lokale Initiatieven (FLI) of Cyburg. The FLI
stimulates revolutionary Internet- and mobile initiatives and
services to improve public safety in Amsterdam.
The security application that is used consists of several Axis
video products. You can find more information about the specific
