Axis Communications and Classwave Wireless Inc. today announced an agreement to cooperate in offering local mobile networks based on Bluetooth wireless technology. The collaboration focuses on offering Mobile Internet services to the expected millions of Bluetooth enabled mobile units Classwave is a leading software developer of Bluetooth Network Infrastructure solutions and Axis is a leading provider of infrastructure solutions based on unlicensed radio technologies such as Bluetooth wireless technology.
The alliance will see Bluetooth Personal Mobile Networks tested and deployed which utilize both Bluetooth Access Points from Axis and Classwave's Polyphony Serverä. The companies will collaborate to develop Bluetooth infrastructure that will allow mobile users equipped with Bluetooth devices to easily access e-mail, the Internet and Intranet and conduct m-commerce transactions. This overall suite of applications can be deployed in hotels, retail outlets, airports, entertainment venues and other public places where mobile people want to conduct m-commerce transactions or access the Internet.
