Axis provides Portuguese bank group with print servers in major deal

Axis Communications has secured an order for advanced print servers from a Portuguese bank group with a customer order value in excess of USD 300,000. This transaction is part of the bank group's work to standardize its IT environment. The fact that Axis' print servers support both LAN and IBM mainframe environments simultaneously was a major reason in the choice of supplier.

The Axis print server AXIS 5470e IPDS is one of the market's most advanced and enables a single printer to be connected to a local area network (LAN), and to be used from PC/UNIX systems as well as IBM systems. This is an attractive function for companies that have complex computer environments with stringent security requirements, such as banks and insurance companies, and transport and logistics companies.

Axis sees major market potential for print servers that can handle various types of computer environments, given the increasing need of major companies to rationalize costs for printing, but without compromising security for printouts. Today, many of these companies have begun to make the shift from costly systems with dedicated parallel printing systems to uniform solutions based on Axis print servers.
