Axis continues to strengthen its position as a leading provider of Bluetooth access points. The access points now delivered to Japan will serve as home servers, linking the Bluetooth enabled appliances together and enabling remote service and monitoring. Axis' OEM customer will market a complete system including the access point; Bluetooth-enabled appliances and associated services.
"This is a new example showing that the deployment of Bluetooth applications are mainly driven from Japan today. Last year Bluetooth went through extensive testing. This year the solutions will be brought to market," says Mr. Hirokazu Mizuno, Director of sales at Axis Communications KK.
In addition to the branded products, Axis also offers an open developer platform for Bluetooth access points. The developer solution consists of the hardware used in the AXIS 9010, the Linux 2.4 operating system and basic software for Bluetooth access points. The solution (presented on http://developer.axis.com) allows third-party developers to quickly create new Bluetooth applications utilizing Axis' technology.
