The network dome cameras combine the functionality of a legacy analog dome with the best features of a high-quality network camera. The AXIS 231D and AXIS 232D deliver high quality, full frame rate Motion JPEG video with the capability to remotely control pan, tilt and zoom functions over an IP network such as a LAN or the Internet. The network dome cameras also support simultaneous transmission of video with MPEG-4 compression.
"Axis has emerged as the leading vendor of network video technology, earning itself the Excellence in Technology Award," says Frost & Sullivan research analyst Michael Valenti. "The Axis network dome cameras are unique solutions for the IP surveillance market in that they combine the features of both analog and network-based cameras."
Axis designed the network dome cameras using the company's own ARTPEC-2 compression chip technology. As true dome cameras, the AXIS 231D and AXIS 232D can execute a continuous 360º pan to efficiently cover large areas and to follow moving objects. Users can preset up to 20 positions and one sequence on auto patrol tour. These functionalities are ideal for security surveillance applications in airports, railway stations, prisons, warehouses, manufacturing facilities, shopping centers and school campuses.
Last month, Axis was awarded the 2005 Frost & Sullivan Market Leadership Award for network video. Frost & Sullivan found Axis to be the definitive market leader in both the global network camera market and the global video server market. The combined worldwide network video market is expected to grow at an annual rate of 40 percent and reach $1.2 billion by 2010.
"We are honored to receive this award based on technological excellence to support our recent market leadership recognition by Frost and Sullivan," says Ray Mauritsson, CEO of Axis Communications. "Axis has always developed products to empower customers, so the technological advantages of network video can be maximized for a seamless and effective migration to full digital platforms."
