Axis provides Remote Monitoring Solution to New York State Unified Court System

Axis Communications today announced that the company has secured a deal worth approximately $230,000 with the New York State Unified Court System. The deal includes network video products for approximately 30 courthouses in the New York City area, which will be used in an advanced security system enabling court security personnel to remotely monitor courthouse grounds 24 hours a day.

The Unified Court System (UCS) will use the full suite of Axis network video products, including network cameras, video servers and audio modules, to create a remote command center where real-time images can be monitored via CourtNet, the UCS enterprise network. In addition, authorized court managers will be able to use their office PCs to access images from a standard server, enabling them to monitor the security of their courthouse and offices.
"Network video consistently proves to be the most flexible system for monitoring activities in many remote locations," said Michael Engstrom, general manager for Axis Communications in U.S. "Axis network video equipment allows companies and government agencies to have technologically advanced security systems that are simple and cost-effective to install, maintain and operate."
Network cameras and video servers allow facilities such as government buildings to optimize network infrastructure for security and surveillance solutions. Unlike analog CCTV systems that operate with dedicated cabling infrastructures and monitors, network video products plug directly into existing networks and have built-in Web servers, compression chips and operating systems, enabling them to function independently of PCs.
