Axis: More than 100 U.S. schools now using Axis networked video for security and surveillance

Axis Communications continues to make strong progress on the market for networked video surveillance solutions for schools. With a large number of new installations in place, and a fast growth rate, Axis has secured a very strong position within the application area. The video solutions from Axis enables school officials, security officers, and local police to keep a closer watch on areas where vandalism and violence is most likely to occur.

With increased security risks in schools, there is a heightened level of awareness from school and law enforcement officials when it comes to improved surveillance. Axis network video equipment connects directly to existing network infrastructure, which make them cost-effective for school districts to install, maintain and manage state-of-the-art security systems.

Solutions based on Axis products are currently used for advanced campus safety and security in more than 100 schools throughout Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina and Wisconsin. In addition, more than 130 schools around the country have either submitted purchase orders for the equipment or are considering buying a system. Besides the fast growth in the US within the application area, Axis has also a large number of installations in schools around Europe - among others the award-winning solution for Newport City in Wales.

Axis network cameras and video servers contain built-in Web servers, compression chips and operating systems. This enables the transmission of real-time images over the Internet, and allows authorities with the proper passwords to access images from the school with a standard Web browser, 24 hours a day. Monitoring can be done for day-to-day security or to improve the response time of police and rescue workers if there is an incident. In addition, high-quality digital images can be transferred to law enforcement agencies or the media within seconds.
