Axis acquires Danish software company and strengthens video offering

Axis Communications has acquired Attento, a Danish software company specializing in video surveillance solutions. Through the acquisition, Axis expands its video offering to include application solutions.

Attento is fully committed to software development for digital video surveillance systems, ranging from solutions for smaller, retail systems to larger, more geographically wide spread security systems, suitable, for instance, for banks. Since Attento was founded in year 2000, the company's software architecture has won fast acclaim in the security industry and the company's solutions are today already a part of many installations based on Axis' video products. The acquisition is paid in cash; the purchase sum remains undisclosed upon agreement.

"The acquisition of Attento should be seen as a strategically important step in our ambition to offer our customers complete, scalable and flexible solutions for security applications and remote surveillance systems," said Axis' CEO Ray Mauritsson. "After carefully evaluating the software developers within the security and surveillance industry, we have come to the conclusion that Attento has the best and most flexible system solutions. We also believe that the resources we have acquired give us added value and broaden our product portfolio, and will have a positive impact on our growth within the video segment."

The acquisition of Attento does not affect Axis' continued support for its ADP program, an initiative that ties application developers closer to Axis and secures a broad field of applications for the company's products. The new application resources will rather strengthen Axis' capabilities to better serve the needs of its application partners. Axis' ADP program today includes more than 140 companies.
